Westwood is a large sunny house managed by Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Society. Westwood aims to provide a safe and caring environment suited to each residents needs. It aims to offer a happy and comfortable home in which residents can develop to their full potential with the help and support of our friendly staff.

Westwood BuildingResidents are encouraged to partake in meaningful outside occupation during the day, this may be at a day centre or work placement. The staff are happy to support the residents to access leisure activities of their choice. There is also a choice of holiday each year.

Everyone is encouraged to help run the house and to help make decisions about the home.

It's the staff's role to enable the residents to achieve independence and to encourage participation in a wide variety of activities both in the community and the home. Keyworkers work with residents to complete a care plan to help us to provide a service that meets each resident's specific needs.

All of our staff are required to undertake training in areas such as First Aid, Care & Control of Medicines, Manual Handeling, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, Health & Safety, Good Nutrition, and Fire Safety. Staff may also undertake additional training depending on the residents needs. Nearly all of our full time staff are trained to NVQ levels 2 and above.

Westwood is registered with the Care Quality Commission, is an East Sussex County Council approved provider, and is a member of the East Sussex Residential Care Home Association.
