Open Door

Open Door provides full time day care (9am-4pm Monday to Friday) for Adults with a learning disability. Open Door aims to offer a wide and varied programme that is tailored to each person's individual needs.

Cooking at Open doorThe ethos of Open Door is that each individual person should be given the opportunity to use community based activities and gain individual independence to work towards their personal development.

Open Door provides a service for around 30 people per day. We offer a one to five staff ratio in all our activities and when necessary this can be increased. All service users have a person centred plan - incorporating the Me & My Life package. We work closely with our service users supporting them through the key worker system.

Within all our sessions we like to encourage Independence and focus upon building the skills our service users already have. Many of our sessions are based in the local community with others based within our centre. For further information on activities available please see attached timetable & brochure. We encourage & support our service users to attend various seminars.

Cooking at Open doorWe are active members of Hastings & Rother Special Olympic team. Many of our sporting activities are Special Olympic sports. Employment is actively encouraged and we have work placements at: Under 5's Nursery, Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Charity Shop, PDSA, work experience at St Johns, MIND and UFOSA.

We hold various fun & social events throughout the year. An annual holiday is also organised for our service users.

Our friendly staff are trained in First Aid, Manual Handling, Care & Control of Medicines, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, and participate in a variety of additional training suited to service users needs. All staff are trained to NVQ level 2 and above.
