Learn how to make different props for the stage. This fun class will work closely with the performance classes to make props for the Active Arts show. They will also be able to create their own small performance pieces and work with their own props. The group will also get a chance to exhibit their work at the Active Arts show.
This class offers opportunities to create dance pieces of a professional standard using a creative structure and improvisation. The group work together as an ensemble and on solo pieces, which will create a choreographed piece for the Active Arts show.
Learn different art techniques and produce your own portfolio of work. Using different art materials you can find your own creativity. Active Arts holds at least one art exhibition a year to show your work. You will also work on the backdrops for the Active Arts show and exhibit your work there.
Different ways of making stories through artwork using collage, printmaking, drawing, film projection, photography, sound and spoken word. A chance to tell your own stories in your own way. These stories can be real, fictional or poetry. The group can perform/film their work and create pieces for exhibition throughout the year and at the Active Arts show.
Using music, movement, comedy, mime, props and costume, this active performance class produces work of a professional standard towards the Active Arts show. This class takes place at the White Rock Theatre. Students in this class are encouraged to bring ideas to the group. Work is devised throughout the year. This class can have the opportunity to perform at other venues throughout the year. The class work on performance techniques and staging as part of their class.
Dancing and singing, group and solo pieces this musical theatre group create stunning work of a professional standard which will be performed at the Active Arts show. This class takes place at the White Rock Theatre. The group may also have opportunities to perform at other venues throughout the year. The class work on singing and acting techniques, vocal and physical exercises as part of their class.
At the end of each academic year we host a show featuring the students work from the year. The show is considered a great success and receives excellent reviews. For many of the students it is considered the highlight of the year and is a fantastic opportunity for students to present their work to the wider community. Our Art class exhibits their work at least once a year at a venue in the local area and at our end of year show.
